Kansas City Candlelight Rosary Procession and Fatima Pilgrimage on October 13, 2012 a Great Success!

Over 1300 people joined Bishop Finn,  for the Candlelight Rosary Procession and Fatima Pilgrimage held by the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph and the Eucharistic Family Rosary Crusade on a rainy October 13th.

The procession was scrapped due to the badly needed rain, but the show went on indoors. Pilgrims filled 550 seat St Patrick's Church and another 600 crowded the gymnasium at St Patrick's school, and watched the prayer service on a closed-circuit TV screen. Even more overflowed into the narthex, the daily Mass chapel, and then outside and listened on the church's audio system.

After the two hour service, Fr Jim Kelleher said, “The Virgin Mary intercedes and takes care of all these things.”  Fr Jim is the founder of the Eucharistic Family Rosary Crusade.

October 13th is the 95th anniversary of the sixth and final monthly apparition of the Virgin Mary to the three children in Fatima, Portugal. The candlelight procession preceded the exposition and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and the proclamation of the Gospel was by Deacon Justin McMenamy, and then a reflection by Father Kelleher and a homily by Bishop Finn.

The event marked the opening of the Year of Faith in the diocese. Bishop Finn also re-consecrated the diocese to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, with benediction and a blessing with the Blessed Sacrament.
